Glenn Vrba

Northwest Texas Area Representative
(940) 255-1681

To see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.

To lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.

Our relationships will demonstrate steadfast commitment to Jesus Christ and His Word through Integrity, Serving, Teamwork and Excellence.

INTEGRITY • We will demonstrate Christ-like wholeness, privately and publicly. (Proverbs 11:3)

SERVING • We will model Jesus’ example of serving. (John 13:1-17)

TEAMWORK • We will express our unity in Christ in all our relationships.(Philippians 2:1-4)

EXCELLENCE • We will honor and glorify God in all we do. (Colossians 3:23-24)

To and Through the Coach

We pursue our vision and mission through the strategy of to and through the coach. We seek ministry first to coaches hearts, marriages and families. Then, when ready, we minister through coaches to their fellow coaches, teams and athlete leaders.

Billy Graham said, “A coach will impact more people in one year than the average person will in an entire lifetime.” With the influence of a coach, FCA recognizes the most strategic way to reach more athletes is to first reach the coach.

As FCA matures, we seek to make disciples through our methods of engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same.

ENGAGE • (1 Thessalonians 2:8)

We engage relationally by connecting with individuals and through events in many different environments by building genuine trust, sharing our lives and sharing the gospel. We strive

to connect with coaches and athletes where they are on their spiritual journey.

EQUIP • (Ephesians 4:12)

After cultivating relationships and once coaches and athletes come to faith in Christ, we want to equip them with Christ-centered training, events, resources and on-going support in what it means to be a follower of Christ, growing

in God’s Word and applying it to life.

EMPOWER • (2 Timothy 2:2)

Once equipped, we empower faithful leaders who desire to use their time, talents and treasures to help other coaches and athletes experience the gospel, grow in their faith and share Him with others. We desire to develop disciples who make disciples, assisting them so that they can in turn engage, equip and empower others to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same.

God chose a young coach by the name of Don McClanen, with a dream of reaching coaches and athletes with the gospel, to begin FCA in 1954. A few years later, in June of 1962 at a National FCA Conference in Estes Park, the Lord called another young coach with a similar passion. That happened to be Coach Tom Landry who helped officially launch the Dallas chapter of FCA on April 21, 1966.

Coach Landry was aided by other founding members: Ron Case, Jim Evans, Herschel Forester, Bill Forester, Tiny Goss and Darrell Lafitte along with the first regional FCA Director, Bill Krisher, and Coach Jim Myers.

Later on, the Ft. Worth chapter was formed with Dennis Conner hired to lead that area in 1977. Conner was assisted by volunteers Marshall “Boogie” Robinson, Joe Lenamon, Mike Bourland, James Garner, Ray Taylor, Trent Detamore and Ronald Clinkscale. The first FCA field ministry representative for the area was a young seminary student named Neal Jeffrey!

In 2012, FCA Regional V.P., Wade Hopkins, initiated the merging of these two areas and the DFW Fellowship of Christian Athletes was created under the leadership of current North Texas Multi-Area Director, Rick Bowles, with guidance from both the Dallas and Ft. Worth leadership boards.

Of the original founders, board members and volunteers, many have continued to serve FCA throughout the years. That includes the Landry family who has faithfully supported the ministry, attending numerous events and lending their involvement behind the scenes as well. Mrs. Alicia Landry is still a major sponsor of Tom Landry Open and Tom Landry, Jr. serves on the DFW FCA Landry/Carter Endowment Board.

It is impossible to list all the names of those who contributed to building this ministry. But, reflecting on our past, being reminded of the passion and dedication of those who came before us, encourages us to continue their legacy. Especially knowing that, today, the need is as great as it ever has been for the influence of FCA on our campuses and in our communities.

With the help of our support team, donors and volunteers, we are resolved to continue pursuing our vision, "To see the world impacted by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes."

"When I coached the Dallas Cowboys, I looked for "impact players." Those who could alter and change the momentum during the games and those who could lead by example. The impact players often led us to victory. Just like the impact players for the Cowboys, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has made an impact in this nation - male and female athletes of all ages, coaches on all levels, families, corporations, churches and many others known only to God. All have made an impact for Christ." TOM LANDRY

FCA - 60 Years and Counting! Check out this timeline to learn more about our history.

Would you pray and ask the Lord what you might do to help us fulfill our vision "To see the world impacted by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes?"

Charitable donations to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes go to support the work of those involved in our sports ministry. As a non-profit organization, charitable giving to FCA is tax-deductible. We provide tax receipts for donations. Thank you for giving to our ministry.
