Would you pray and ask the Lord what you might do to help us fulfill our vision "To see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes?"

DONATE

Charitable donations to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes go to support the work of those involved in our sports ministry. As a non-profit organization, charitable giving to FCA is tax-deductible. We provide tax receipts for donations. Thank you for giving to our ministry.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is touching millions of lives… one heart at a time. Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ.

The Four C’s of Ministry:

Coaches Ministry

The Coaches Ministry vision is to redeem sports through transformed coaches. FCA ministers to coaches through Bible studies, prayer support, discipleship and mentoring, resources, outreach events and retreats.

Campus Ministry

The Campus Ministry is initiated and led by student-athletes and coaches on junior high, high school and college campuses. It has four ministry types: Huddles, Team Bible Studies, Chaplain Programs and Coaches Bible Studies. Additionally, outreach events take place on the campus such as One Way 2 Play — Drug Free programs, school assemblies and the annual Fields of Faith event.

Camp Ministry

Camps are a time of “inspirations and perspiration” for coaches and athletes to reach their potential by offering comprehensive athletic, spiritual and leadership training. These types of camps are Sports Camp, Leadership Camp, Coaches Camp, Power Camp, Partnership Camp, Team Camp and International Camp.

Community Ministry

The “win” of Community Ministry is to see the community reached for Jesus Christ through adult involvement. FCA partners with local churches, businesses, parents and volunteers to invest in coaches and athletes participating in club, recreational and youth sports teams. FCA Teams have also been created to impact the sports community. Other areas of Community Ministry include adult ministries, professional athlete ministries, resources and clinics.

The FCA Values

Our relationships will demonstrate steadfast commitment to Jesus Christ and His Word through Integrity, Serving, Teamwork and Excellence.

Integrity - We will demonstrate Christ-like wholeness, privately, and publicly. (Proverbs 11:3)

Serving - We will model Jesus’ example of serving. (John 13:1-17)

Teamwork -  We will express our unity in Christ in all our relationships. (Philippians 2:1-4)

Excellence - We will honor and glorify God in all we do. (Colossians 3:23-24)

DFW FCA - THEN and NOW

God chose a young coach by the name of Don McClanen, with a dream of reaching coaches and athletes with the gospel, to begin FCA in 1954. A few years later, in June of 1962 at a National FCA Conference in Estes Park, the Lord called another young coach with a similar passion. That happened to be Coach Tom Landry who helped officially launch the Dallas chapter of FCA on April 21, 1966.

Coach Landry was aided by other founding members: Ron Case, Jim Evans, Herschel Forester, Bill Forester, Tiny Goss and Darrell Lafitte along with the first regional FCA Director, Bill Krisher, and Coach Jim Myers.

Later on, the Ft. Worth chapter was formed with Dennis Conner hired to lead that area in 1977. Conner was assisted by volunteers Marshall “Boogie” Robinson, Joe Lenamon, Mike Bourland, James Garner, Ray Taylor, Trent Detamore and Ronald Clinkscale. The first FCA field ministry representative for the area was a young seminary student named Neal Jeffrey!

In 2012, FCA Regional V.P., Wade Hopkins, initiated the merging of these two areas and the DFW Fellowship of Christian Athletes was created under the leadership of current North Texas Multi-Area Director, Rick Bowles, with guidance from both the Dallas and Ft. Worth leadership boards.

Of the original founders, board members and volunteers, many have continued to serve FCA throughout the years. That includes the Landry family who has faithfully supported the ministry, attending numerous events and lending their involvement behind the scenes as well. Mrs. Alicia Landry is still a major sponsor of Tom Landry Open and Tom Landry, Jr. serves on the DFW FCA Landry/Carter Endowment Board.

It is impossible to list all the names of those who contributed to building this ministry. But, reflecting on our past, being reminded of the passion and dedication of those who came before us, encourages us to continue their legacy. Especially knowing that, today, the need is as great as it ever has been for the influence of FCA on our campuses and in our communities.

With the help of our support team, donors and volunteers, we are resolved to continue pursuing our vision, "To see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes."

"When I coached the Dallas Cowboys, I looked for "impact players." Those who could alter and change the momentum during the games and those who could lead by example. The impact players often led us to victory. Just like the impact players for the Cowboys, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has made an impact in this nation - male and female athletes of all ages, coaches on all levels, families, corporations, churches and many others known only to God. All have made an impact for Christ." TOM LANDRY
